The following is a brief history of Troop 220, Moss Point, Mississippi.

The Boy Scouts of America have been alive and well in Moss Point, MS since 1919. Troop 1, as all troops were number 1 at this time, was organized in Moss Point under the leadership of Scoutmaster, Professor W. W. Alexander, who recognized the need of boys and gave his time and talent to promote the principles of Scouting. This Troop was sponsored by Moss Point First Baptist Church.

During the 1920's the Scoutmaster of Troop 1 was John McArthur. Some of the members of this troop were Stone Smith, John McLeod, Alton Thompson, George King, Thimothy Blades, Mickey Hill, E. G. Wood and others. All are deceased except Mr. E. G. Wood, who is 89 years of age.
