THE PEGASUS:Pegasus (from Greek and Roman mythology) was a beautiful white horse with wings. Legend says that the Fountain of Hippocrene (the Moon-Horse well or spring) on Mount Helicon, and which belong to the Muses, was created when pegasus struck the ground there with his hoof. Pegasus supposedly sprang into being from the blood of Medusa when Perseus cut of her head. Another story says that he rose from the menstrual blood of the Moon goddess Medusa. Yet another says he was born of the goddess Demter when she was raped by Poseidon; this assumes that Pegasus and the magickal horse Arion were the same being. Very early records tell of a female Pegasus named Aganippe, which is actually another name for Demeter in her destroying aspect of the nightmare. Pegasus was also sacred to the people of Carthage. During the Middle Ages, there appeared in the bestiaries a similar creature called a "hippogryph." Magickal AttributesPoetic inspiration; learning astral travel.Changing evil into good.
