| May 5, 2009 Dear Fifth Graders and Parents, Well, the time we have all awaited has finally arrived. With our departure for Philadelphia just about a month away, its time to put the finishing touches on our plans and start getting excited. Some details of our itinerary and budget are still being finalized, but we plan to take a Ride the Ducks tour, visit Independence Hall, and enjoy a traditional colonial meal at the historic City Tavern. In light of current economic conditions, I have decided and Dr. Goss agrees that it would be appropriate to shorten our trip to three days. The students will still get to explore many interesting sites throughout Philadelphia, but the cost will be more affordable for families. On this revised schedule, we will leave early Wednesday morning (6/3) and return late Friday evening (6/5). You will find specific details on the attached itinerary. Please return the attached permission slip by Friday, May 8 with your deposit check, payable to Triangle Day School. The deposit is $150 for students or adults, with the balance due on May 29. This will allow me to pass any additional savings on to you before we leave. Currently, the cost of the trip is $310 per student and $315 per chaperone, but with specific group numbers, I hope to receive additional discounts. The cost for adult guests is $385 for a double/shared room and $530 for a single/private room. Additional details, including packing lists, will be sent closer to our departure. In general, attire should be nice, but casual - a bit neater than playclothes. And dont forget your comfortable walking shoes! As always, if you have any questions, please let me know! Sincerely, Ms. Tedeschi _______________________________________________________ Budget Information: Transportation approx. $170 (based on 21 riders) Hotel approx $75/145/290 (quad/double/single) Food approx. $30 (for one group meal) Activities approx. $30 Suggested Spending Money: $25-50 + $50 for independent meals |
