MsSouthernOrchid's Poetry Place
Poetry by Mary
The walk up the hill seems longer today
and it looks like a storm is headed this way.
I suppose I should have waited,
and came to visit on a sunnier day.

Yet I am drawn to this place where you are,
remembering your smile that even from afar,
could make my heart burst with feeling,
and could send all my senses reeling.

As I opened the gate to enter inside,
I thought about all the tears I had cried.
Yet, my pain has dimmed over all these years,
the eyes can cry only so many tears.

I brought you some flowers today,
wildflowers I picked along the way.
In my mind I could almost sense you smile,
knowing I came to visit awhile.

As I put the flowers on your grave,
I thought about the love you once gave,
and again I knew that there would always be,
a part of you that will forever be a part of me.
