Still There

It's warm out tonight,
a good night for sitting on the porch.
Lights are burning in a nearby house
lighting up the night like a torch.

Night sounds are comforting,
a breeze blows softly across my hair.
For the first time in a long while
burdens don't seem so heavy to bear.

Lord, I know you're still there
and you're watching over me.
It's just I've been so far from you,
lately it's been hard for me to see.

I've been wrapped up in myself
and consumed with worldly things.
I drifted far away from you,
knowing what that means.

But here in the quiet of night,
peacefulness floods my heart.
I know you still watch over me,
and tomorrow can be a new start.
