I know this might be a stretch, but here's another way to delve into Snape's character -- supposing what astrological sign he is. The astrological sign of a person can tell much about the person, seeing as those who are Geminis have many same traits, or Cancers, or Sagittariuses, ect. Using my handy dandy book Sun Signs, by Linda Goodman, I make the proposition that Snape is a Scorpio.

Between October 24 and November 22

PHYSICAL FEATURES:

• eyes piercing with hypnotic intensity
• heavy, sharp features
• nose is quite prominent, sometimes beak-shaped
• pale complexion
• most have darkish hair and eyes

EMOTIONS:

• rarely seen on Scorpio's frozen, immoble face
• proud of their blank expression, practice
• will get truth when asked for opinion - not afraid to be blunt
• its beneath him to flatter
• intensely loyal to friends\ also draws loyalty (or envious, spiteful enemies)
• never forgets kindness\ injuries
• cannot let things 'go'
• explosive temper (if warrented)
• under coll reserve, he is very passionate; emotions run high
• must keep dignity at all cost
• compelled to conceal his motives

HEALTH:

• can destroy body with work, melancholy or excess
• strong vitality
• sickness is serious
• places of attack: reproductive organs, nose, throat, heart, spine, back, circulatory system, legs, ankles

INTERESTS\CONCERNS:

• religion
• life\death, all phases of life
• sex
• reform
• dedicated to ties of family and love
• gently protective of children\weaker souls
• fiercely passionate about what is his, including success, though ambition is never obvious

AS A TEACHER\PARENT:

• will not tolerate lazy\frivolous behaviour
• teach to respect property, themselves
• does care for them \ won't stand nonsense
• will allow expression, but there is a clear line that is not to be crossed
