The Republican Women�s Club of Taneytown has published a cookbook, Star-Spangled Recipes. The cookbook contains 300 recipes from members of the Republican Women�s Club and many Republican elected officials, including Gov. & Mrs. Ehrlich and Lt. Gov. Steele. They are wonderful gifts for Christmas, birthdays, teachers, friends, family, etc., and will be keepsakes for years to come. The books are on sale for $10.00 each at Nationwide Insurance, 441 E. The Taneytown Republican Women�s Club is part of the Maryland Federation of
Republican Women. MFRW was chartered in 1921 and is the state�s oldest and largest women�s political organization with 1,900 members in 42 clubs throughout the state. Every Republican woman in the State�s delegation to the U.S. Congress, the Maryland Legislature, and most County governments is an MFRW member. It is part of the National Federation of Republican Women, with 107,000 members, the foremost women�s political organization in the world.
The Taneytown Republican Women�s Club is one of Carroll County�s oldest Republican clubs. The club was chartered in the mid 1960�s. We are truly a women�s club. Men do not attend our business meetings. However, we do hold a fundraising dinner each October to which all are invited. Also, we hold a Christmas/Installation Dinner in which we invite all members and their spouses.
We routinely invite elected officials of all levels of government to speak at our meetings. The club raises money to enable our support of political candidates and the Republican Party. We are also committed to serve the community. We give a scholarship to a graduating high school senior each year. We support No Child Left Behind initiatives along with the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project. We are also committed to increasing the number of registered Republicans in Carroll County.
The Republican Women's Club of Taneytown located in Taneytown meets on the first Tuesday of each month from March through November, at the Taneytown American Legion at 7 p.m. Membership is open to all area Republican women.
