Hampstead Mayor, Haven Shoemaker
Haven N. Shoemaker, Jr., age 40, is a native Marylander who lives on Glouster Circle in Hampstead with his wife of 17 years, Patty, and their fifteen year old son, Haven, III.  He was first elected to the Hampstead Town Council in May 1997, and was re-elected in May 2001.  On both of these occasions, he was the top vote getter.  In May 2003, he was elected the 17th Mayor of Hampstead with 70% of the vote.  His term expires in May 2007.

Haven was appointed to the Maryland State Board of Barbers in 1997.  He was also appointed by the Carroll County Board of Commissioners to the Economic Development Commission in December 2004.  Haven has served as the President of the Carroll County Chapter of the Maryland Municipal League since 2001.  Previously, he served on the Hampstead Ethics Commission from 1995-1997, and as ex officio member of the Hampstead Planning and Zoning Commission from 1997-2003.
Haven is a sole practitioner attorney who practices on Main Street in Hampstead.  He is a 1987 Graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and a 1992 graduate (Magna Cum Laude) from Widener University School of Law.  He is an honorably discharged veteran of the Maryland Army National Guard.

He has served as a member of social, service, and religious organizations.  He is a member of Westminster Baptist Church, the Hampstead Lions Club, the Westminster Jaycees, and the Hampstead/Manchester Ravens Nest.  He has served on the Boards of Morningstar Christian School and the Baptist Foundation of Maryland-Delaware and has served as a Deacon in his church.  Please feel free to contact Haven at his office phone: (410) 239-4600 or email him at
