Jan 1993 | The Manics go into Hook End Manor, Berkshire, to record their second album.
Jun 1993 | From Despair To Where is released and makes #25.
Gold Against The Soul, the second album, reaches #8. Jul 1993 | La Tristesse Durera (Scream To A Sigh) is released and gets to #22.
Aug 1993 | The Manics support Bon Jovi at the Milton Keynes Bowl. Roses In The Hospital peaks at #15.
Dec 1993 | Phillip Hall dies of lung cancer whilst the band are in Portugal. Their Brixton Academy gig is cancelled.
Feb 1994 | Life Becoming A Landslide reaches #36.
Mar 1994 | Bernard Butler of Suede joins the Manics onstage at the Clapham Grand in London, to pay tribute to Phillip Hall. He plays guitar on Motorcycle Emptiness. The band cover The Faces, 'Stay With Me' and play a cover of Suede's 'The Drowners'.
