MSP 2002
PLAYOFF RULES
SEEDING
- The top 12 teams make the playoffs. The top 4 teams get a bye during
Wildcard Weekend (Round 1)
- Here is the tiebreaker hierarchy for determining playoff seeds:
- Pick of the Week (POW) Winning Percentage
- Monday Night Football (MNF) Winning Percentage
- Weeks Won
- Most Recent POW performance (Going back from Week 17 until someone
gets an advantage)
- Most Recent MNF performance (Going back from Week 17 until someone
gets an advantage)
- Overall W/L percentage
- If it gets to this point, it'll be decided by a coin toss. You
have a better chance of winning the lottery than having this happen.
- The match-ups for round 1 are as follows: 5th place vs. 12th place, 6th
place vs. 11th place, 7th place vs. 10th place, 8th place vs. 9th place.
- After each round, the top remaining seed will face the lowest seed in the
next round. The 2nd highest seed will face the 2nd lowest seed, etc.
POINT
SYSTEM
- You get a point for picking a
winner. You lose a point for picking a loser.
- Each week you must also make
a Pick of the Week Selection, which is worth 2 or -2 points. If you
forget to enter a POW (pick of the week) then one of your losses will be
assigned as your POW. If have a perfect week, you will not be
penalized for this.
- You must pick at least one
game, but there is no maximum.
- To avoid ties vs. the spread,
I'll make all lines half point lines in favor of the favorite.
Example, if the Eagles are favored by 3 points over the Falcons, the spread
would be Philadelphia -2.5 instead of Philadelphia -3.
- IF YOU DO NOT TURN IN YOUR
PICKS BY 10:00 PM on the day
prior TO THE 1ST
KICKOFF OF THE WEEKEND, YOU WILL
AUTOMATICALLY LOSE 2 POINTS AND YOUR POW FOR THE WEEK. IF PICKS ARE
NOT TURNED PRIOR TO 1ST KICKOFF, YOUR OPPONENT AUTOMATICALLY
ADVANCES!!!
TIE
BREAKERS
- Many match-ups will end in a
tie. In that event, the following tie-breakers come into play:
- If both players have identical picks the
outcome of the match-up will be based on the higher seed's POW.
If the higher seed wins their POW they advance, otherwise the lower seed
advances
- 1st tiebreaker: Pick of the
Week
- If both players have the same
outcome (both wins or both losses) for their POW, the higher seed advances.
PRIZES
- There are weekly prizes for
the top point-getters in a given week, as well as prizes for the Top 4
finishers of the Regular Season.
- The Top 12 Regular Season
finishers get into the playoffs (The top 4 get byes), in competition for
Super Bowl champion and runner-up prizes through a tournament of
head-to-head competition.

sheet making sure that you select your alias name from the "Name"
box, pick 4 games, a POW and the Monday Night Football winner before
pressing the "Submit Picks" button.
-
This is the ONLY way picks will
be accepted!!!!!. I will make exceptions for very good reasons
but WILL NOT TYPE IN YOUR PICKS on a normal basis. If you can't work
the weekly pick form, email me at [email protected].
If you can't work the sheet, you probably shouldn't be in the
pool.
-
Picks
must be received by 10:00 pm the night prior to the 1st kickoff of the week to
avoid penalties!!!!!
