New York Trip & Engagement Party

May 10-14, 2001

As many of you know, Michael and I spent a fun-filled weekend in New York recently.  If I said it was a relaxing weekend, I would be lying.  We did our best to fit all of New York's highlights into four short days.  Needless to say, that is definitely a challenge!  To my surprise, we accomplished at least three-quarters of what we originally planned.  We visited the Home Theater Show (I endured that just for Michael!), walked through Central Park at 8:00 A.M., went up to the observational deck on the 86th floor of the Empire State building (It was like pulling teeth to get Michael up there since he is scared of heights!), and of course, we went to see two Broadway shows: The Blue Man Group and Riverdance.  We did many other things, but what I mentioned were the main highlights of our trip.  With it being my first trip to New York, I wanted to take everything in, but I knew that wasn't possible.  Looking back on our trip, I think we did an excellent job in visiting New York's primary attractions.

The day before we left, we ventured to Staten Island to visit with Michael's Aunt Marie, as well as, other family members.  Aunt Marie had planned an intimate engagement party for us that Sunday afternoon.  Out of the entire weekend, that was the first time I was able to relax over the weekend.  Granted I was surrounded by a swarm of Italians, but they welcomed me to the family with open arms.  We sat around the house munching on Aunt Marie's delicious food and chatting continuously with one another.  It was nice to spend time with my future in-laws, getting to know them.  Michael and I greatly appreciate Aunt Marie's generosity.   In my opinion, our time spent with Michael's family was a perfect ending to our New York get-a-way
