Jan 6 hey guys!! so okay i really had to share this with everyone. a while ago i was at this one site that was dedicated to joaquin (of course) and well, he was talking about how he was homeschooled for a while then just dropped out after they sent him a dead frog to bisect.. i don't blame him! well, the thing is.. after reading about how he deals with things and giving this a looooooot of thought, well i just made a really big decision today and that is to drop out of school, get homeschooled until i turn 17 and get my GED then. I'm gonna work fulltime until that point, and when i'm 18 i'm going to move out and live on my own doing what i really want to do which is paint, write, and act.. which are things i never got the chance to excel in at school! he's showed me that there's no point in putting up with other people's crap just to satisfy them when you should do what makes you happy and this is what will make me happy. i was able to convince my mom (amazingly!) and i couldn't be happier. i just had to share this.. because now i'm living proof that he's not just a pretty face, he has major influences on people. in the good way of course :) ~Maxine California
Jan 9 Joaquin has influenced me in many ways, but the biggest way is him being a vegan. I decided to become a vegan a couple months ago and I am loving it. I am losing weight, I am healthier and I feel great. I stooped eating red meat, fish, and chicken ( though I couldn't not eat dairy because I was to young, my mom said and, I needed the calcium) when I was in 7th grade, because I had to dissect a bunch of stuff. A frog that was pregnent, crayfish, a worm, a grasshopper, a jellyfish, and a deer heart. This was the most degrading month of my life. Every time I walked into that classroom all you could smell was that chemical that kept the dead animals from rotting at first I said "no way I am not doing that you are sick" to my teacher. My teacher said he would fail me and my parents said that I was making to much out of it. So I had to and I hated it, everytime I had to do it, I had to hold back the tears in my eyes. So enough of that said stuff. I just became one (vegan) a few months ago, full time, and I am happy because of it . Amanda
Jan 13 You know how sometimes in life you come to an understanding of things- maybe it's an understanding of someone or something else, or maybe it's something about your own self that you understand? Well, I think the Empire article kinda backed up my understanding and thinking about things. I really enjoyed that article- so thanks for posting it- even though he hates interviews, but I mean it kinda supported some ideas I have personally about life. Joaquin seriously doesn't give a second thought about other people and what they think of certain things- or at least that's what he conveys. I think that's cool in a way because it's so easy in this world to get caught up in what people think you should be doing or worrying about or what they think should be important to you. I find it inspiring and that's one thing I have been trying to do in my life- not get caught up in everything else and to just do my thing! so those are just my thoughts! But thanks again for posting the article- it was great to get a peek at what he has to say! Abby:)
