We will be creating additional web pages that will be
linked to the classroom home page. On it
will be links to other pages, either other Internet sites or additional pages
you will create later. The formatting
used on this page will be used for each additional page you create. After creating the first page, we will be
able to do a File – Save As for each additional page.
Create a Web Page in
Composer
1.
Center a title
on the page. If you want, make it bold and
a larger font. Remember to choose a font that is readily available on the Web
such as Comic Sans, Times New Roman or Arial.
2.
Format –
Background – pick color for your web page.
3.
Choose File –
Save As. Enter a title for the page
(such as Mrs. Fiorini’s Math Page) and click OK. This will appear in the Title Bar of your
website. Navigate to your own
directory. The file name needs to be the one-word description you used as
the hyperlink on your home page (do not capitalize file names). Click Save.
4.
Insert a table
that is two columns wide by three rows.
Click Table icon and change number of columns to 2, number of rows to 3,
and click OK.
5.
With the cursor
in the table, right-click and choose Table Cell Properties. Click on the Table tab. Under Borders and Spacing change Border to 0
pixels and click OK. What you will see
is only a placeholder and will not appear on the webpage.
6.
In each cell,
type the appropriate heading.
7.
To add links to
Internet pages:
a.
Find a website
you wish to link to. In the address bar,
highlight the address right-click and choose Copy to copy the address.
b.
Go back to
Composer and type a phrase to be your hyperlink. Highlight the phrase, right-click and choose
Create Link. Put the cursor in the Link
Location box, right-click and choose Paste.
Click OK.
c.
If you wish to,
you can indent your hyperlinks under the heading by putting your cursor at the
front of the link and clicking the Indent text button.
8.
At the bottom of
the page, center and type “Return to Home Page” and highlight the phrase you
just typed. Right-click and choose
Create Link. Click Choose File and click
on the name of your homepage. Click Open
and click OK.
9.
Click Save.
