We will be creating additional web pages that will be linked to the classroom home page.  On it will be links to other pages, either other Internet sites or additional pages you will create later.  The formatting used on this page will be used for each additional page you create.  After creating the first page, we will be able to do a File – Save As for each additional page.

Create a Web Page in Composer

1.                  Center a title on the page.  If you want, make it bold and a larger font. Remember to choose a font that is readily available on the Web such as Comic Sans, Times New Roman or Arial.

2.                  Format – Background – pick color for your web page.

3.                  Choose File – Save As.  Enter a title for the page (such as Mrs. Fiorini’s Math Page) and click OK.  This will appear in the Title Bar of your website.  Navigate to your own directory.  The file name needs to be the one-word description you used as the hyperlink on your home page (do not capitalize file names).  Click Save.

4.                  Insert a table that is two columns wide by three rows.  Click Table icon and change number of columns to 2, number of rows to 3, and click OK.

5.                  With the cursor in the table, right-click and choose Table Cell Properties.  Click on the Table tab.  Under Borders and Spacing change Border to 0 pixels and click OK.  What you will see is only a placeholder and will not appear on the webpage.

6.                  In each cell, type the appropriate heading.

7.                  To add links to Internet pages:

a.      Find a website you wish to link to.  In the address bar, highlight the address right-click and choose Copy to copy the address.

b.      Go back to Composer and type a phrase to be your hyperlink.  Highlight the phrase, right-click and choose Create Link.  Put the cursor in the Link Location box, right-click and choose Paste.  Click OK.

c.      If you wish to, you can indent your hyperlinks under the heading by putting your cursor at the front of the link and clicking the Indent text button.

8.                  At the bottom of the page, center and type “Return to Home Page” and highlight the phrase you just typed.  Right-click and choose Create Link.  Click Choose File and click on the name of your homepage.  Click Open and click OK.

9.                  Click Save.
