| PROJECT PROFILE The Underground Railroad: With Miles to go Before Sleep... is a project which combines primary sources and multidisciplinary connections in which the students travel the Underground Railroad to freedom. Each student wiil choose a Slave profile and navigate their way to freedom from Ohio to Canada. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon completion of the project students will be able to: 1. Collect, organize, display and analyze data in order to make decisions and predictions. 2. Determine the probability of an event to make predictions and solve problems. 3. Interpret, evaluate, and communicate information obtained. SUNSHINE STATE STANDARDS AND BENCHMARKS Mathematics Standards: MA.A.1.3, MA.A.4.3, MA.B.1.3, MA.B.3.3, MA.B.4.3, MA.E.1.3, MA.E.2.3 and MA.E.3.3 CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT Students will be placed in cooperative groups. Each group will be given class time for discussions or/and access to the Internat throughtout the project as well as before and after school. A behavioral plan will be developed to facilitate the cooperative groups. |
