A recent study finds that melting sea ice threatens to cause
starvation among polar bears.

An
alarming study by the Canadian Wildlife Service concludes
that ringed seals are becoming less accessible to polar
bears because the ice season is growing shorter. The
result is that male and female polar bears are losing
weight, and the female polar bears appear to be having
fewer cubs. If the warming trend continues, polar bear
populations will decline.
