The Dust – Part Two

Inuyasha awoke the next morning, still in the same sitting position he fell asleep in. He silently cursed himself; he hadn’t meant to fall asleep. The dew on the grass was glittered slightly as it caught the morning suns rays. The birds were twittering, and the wind had long died down during the night. Inuyasha felt different this morning, he couldn’t put his finger on it, but he felt different. As he inhaled, he noticed a strangely sweet smell, a smell he felt himself attracted to. He closed his eyes and tried to follow it, but he needn’t go too far, as he opened his eyes he found himself sitting strangely close to Kagome. He couldn’t grasp what was happening to him but he felt the urge to kiss her. Shaking his head, he stood up and jogged to the lake, a bath would clear his thoughts.
Sango was the next one to awake. She saw Inuyasha gone, and thought nothing of it. "Probably went for a bath, typical of him to do that." she said groggily. She looked around the camp, the fire was gone, only embers. Her eyes trailed the ground and ended up falling onto Miroku. She stared at him for a moment, having the same strange urge as Inuyasha, she shook her head. Not wanting to talk to Miroku at that moment, she went to wake up Kagome. It took several shakes to wake up Kagome, who sat up lazily.
"Where’s Inuyasha?!?? Is he ok?" She asked, wide awake at not finding Inuyasha. She looked around, and got ready to call Inuyasha’s name out for fear he was injured, but Sango calmed her.
"Calm down Kagome, he’s by the lake. What’s wrong with you?"
"I... I’m not sure.” Kagome said, calming herself down a bit.
"Are you feeling these, weird" Sango struggled to find the right word, "urges?" she asked.
Kagome thought to herself, and blushed slightly, "I think, I’m not sure what it is."
"Me too, it’s best to keep this to ourselves, the last thing I want is for anyone else to find out."
       "Agreed"
Inuyasha came back just then fully rested and in his normal mood, seeming unaltered.
"Where are Shippo and Kirara?" Inuyasha asked.
The two girls realized that they had not been back at all last night, Shippo’s bed roll was still rolled, and Kirara hadn’t checked in with Sango yet. Miroku grunted and awoke as Inuyasha prodded him with Tetsaiga.
"What?" Miroku asked, slightly annoyed at being awakened from a very nice dream.
"Shippo and Kirara hadn’t come back at all, and hadn’t been here at all during the night. We’re gonna look for them." said Kagome
"I don’t see why we have to worry about them, they’ll be back soon anyway." said Inuyasha in his usual tone.
"They may be in trouble Inuyasha, and besides, this may have to deal with the demon too." Kagome let the thought hang, though they all knew Inuyasha was just putting on his fade of insensitivity.
"Fine, we’ll split up into pairs, me and Kagome, you and Sango" Inuyasha said.
The companions split apart, going in different directions.

Here the story splits in two. We’re going to talk about Inu-Yasha and Kagome first then go to Miroku and Sango. When we’re going to the other couple you would know.

Inu-Yasha was getting red in the face from his recent thoughts. They have transformed themselves from a simple kiss to... let’s just say even worse thoughts. He doesn’t know where this desire came from. Originally the bath had cooled him off from the thoughts he had earlier. But now that he and Kagome were alone, he couldn’t help but think of more... intimate thoughts.
“Damn, why can’t I concentrate, it’s not like I haven’t thought about this before” Inuyasha thought to himself. He kept his eyes to the ground, staring at his feet as they walked along.
Kagome also tried to keep her gaze away from Inuyasha, not wanting him to see her blush (Of course he couldn’t see cause he was looking at his feet). She argued with herself over whether to give into her desires or not. She wanted to, but didn’t want to at the same time.
“Besides, he still likes Kikyo, doesn’t he?” She thought to herself.

(Man! Just writing this is getting me confused!! But it is better than practicing my clarinet!!!! Bad me huh?)
"Shippo!! Shippo, where are you!??" She yelled. She knew full well that she didn’t need to yell, but she needed to get her mind of Inuyasha. But it was Kagome’s instincts to call out his name (Everybody knows she’s like another mother to Shippo).  ‘Why didn’t I go with Sango?”
“Why does she yell? If he was near enough to hear us, then I would’ve caught his scent by now!” Inuyasha thought to himself, “but, that’s what makes her beautiful, she’s always looking out for us.” He smiled thinking of the times she cared for him.
"What are you smiling at your feet for, Inuyasha?" She asked, thinking it weird that Inuyasha, or anyone, would smile at their feet.  (I mean wouldn’t you think it’s weird if someone was grinning at their feet?)

Sango let Miroku walk in front of her; not wanting to expose anything to Miroku’s groping hand (would you?).
“What the heck is wrong with me!?!” She thought to herself, looking at her feet much like Inuyasha. Slowly Miroku eased his way behind the preoccupied Sango.
“I can’t get these thoughts out of my head! There has to be a reason she continued to think, not noticing that Miroku was no longer ahead.
Shivers of surprise, anger, and strangely pleasure, raced up her spine as she felt a touch from behind. Out of habit, she turned around and swung hard at Miroku, leaving, yet again, her trade mark palm print onto his face. She turned around and continued walking, her face bright red. Strangely, she didn’t yell at him.
“I wonder why she didn’t yell” Thought Miroku. He grinned evilly as ideas occurred in his head. Yes, he was hit with the dust too but... he’s a perverted monk (no offense if you like the guy cause I do too), those thoughts are already there. The dust just made those thoughts, more frequent.

(Now I could have Miroku take advantage of Sango’s less aggressive mood but I don’t think Miroku will go there so…)

“What’s wrong, Sango? You didn’t yell at me or call me Lecher,” Asks Miroku with that air he always has (you know. If you don’t, or if anyone doesn’t then I guess I’m just crazy). Which to this question Sango started to turn a darker shade of red, “Nothing Miroku, I’m just tired and I have...I’m worried about Kirara!” She almost let the fact out that she’s thinking about him. Oops, that would not be good!!!!

By now the sun was starting to set and both Miroku and Sango were tired of walking. How long have they been searching? How long were they actually paying attention to the search? (The answer to the last question is, only about an hour)

So they decided to find a place to camp and eat something. Kagome brought from her time another pack just in case they had to split up. In this smaller pack she packed a towel in case Sango takes a bath, some food, and pan and cups to cook and eat out of, and some blankets and matches to start a fire. They found a clearing and made camp.

Like yesterday’s dinner, both of them were quiet. (What is up with this silence? I hate silence. So...) Miroku was the first to speak, “Sango please tell me what is wrong!! You have been quiet all day. I can’t take it!! Please tell me!”

‘Well’ she thought ‘he did say please’ but he won’t like what I’m thinking!! ‘But I got to tell him sometime!’ no not really! ‘Hey wait...Who am I talking to?’ voices in your head! ‘I’m going to tell him and stop listening to voices in my head! I think I’m starting to go crazy!’ (This was an argument inside Sango’s head if you haven’t noticed)

“Well Miroku, I’ve had just some awful thoughts.” She says to Miroku. “Like what?” “Well, I, I’ve had thoughts that Kirara was hurt!” ‘Crap! Why did I say that?!’ “Oh, I thought it was something else. I don’t know why but you kept getting redder and redder not sad, not really.” Replied Miroku with that certain feeling that he knows what he is talking about.

To his reply, she got redder. Not angry red but embarrassed red. To this Miroku smirked “Like that. Tell me Sango I won’t tell anyone or laugh at you, I promise.” And he looked very serious about that last part. Sango was about to burst but then she had an idea.

“Tell me what you’re thinking Miroku and I’ll tell you what I am thinking” she said with a sly look. To this Miroku only smiled. “TELL me not show me!” Sango said when she saw that look (and that hand moving towards her). “You really want to know?” asks Miroku with as much slyness as Sango’s voice had.
