Like A Fairytale –
Prologue
Has no one
noticed how strange it is for fairy tales to begin with Once Upon a Time? And
why do they end happily ever after? Well, even though I don't believe in all
that, this story will begin just the same. It's a story I heard as a girl, one
that I feel fearfully connected to, even if I can't remember why. But that's
not important at the moment... After all... You're
here to hear a story

::::::::::::::Once Upon A Time....
Once upon a Time, there
lived a King and a Queen. The land they lived on was surrounded by woods, full
of demons and monsters. This is what may have led the Kingdom to it's most successful craft, Demon extermination. People
would call upon the kingdom's experts from far and wide. The King himself would
often accompany the teams, leaving his young, beloved wife behind to care for
their subjects. However, the King was growing old and had no heir to take the
throne after him. The pain became doubtful that they would ever conceive a
child and the King's family begun gathering at the castle, for if the queen
could not successfully give life, one of them would take over the
kingdom. Neither the King nor Queen took much notice for they wanted a child
so. There was one cousin they had trouble ignoring, but they did their best.
A long years after the King and Queen had married, the queen was
finally with child. The villagers sang with joy, for they loved their rulers
and were fearful that the King's wicked cousin would take over. Nine months
later, the queen gave birth to the sweetest little girl with long black hair
and the prettiest green eyes. People came from all over the land to see the
girl. Some even brought gifts, including a fire cat and a katana. The Katana
was put away for her later years but the child refused to be separated from the
kitten.
The child grew
into a troublesome, yet lovable, rebel. She was always fighting with the boys.
Her parents tried to subdue her, giving her voice lessons and dolls. However,
that was all boring to her. She'd take the lessons, but pound on the
instruments. She'd keep the dolls, but have mock duels with them when her
elder's backs were turned. Clever she was.
Years after,
there was need for the kingdom's best exterminators. The King kissed his wife
good-bye, leaving her to care for their subjects, their daughter, and their new
baby boy. Months after, the team still hadn't returned. In their mourning,
there was a gruesome attack. Demons and monsters from the surrounding woods
attacked mercilessly, and with the best exterminators gone, the kingdom stood
no chance. Kissing the foreheads of her children the queen pushed the small
boat down the river as the footsteps and screams of her people sounded behind
her. Tears filled her eyes as she watched the river take all she had left, away
from the inevitable horror her kingdom had come to.
