I myself have four grown children. Thirteen grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. I can speak first hand when it comes to the hearts of children. Children do not always say in words what they sometimes really need to be heard.
I can remember when I was younger. Much younger! I use to always have a paper and pencil to pretend to write things on it. I knew what everyone of those scrubbles and marks meant. No one else could pick up that paper and know what I had written, but I knew.
Art is being used as a tool to express.
