Our Class Songs and Prayers

O Canada

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Our Father

Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy Will be done,
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day,
our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Beginning of the Day Prayer

Dear Jesus,
Please listen as we pray,
Help us in our work and play,
Teach us to be kind and good,
And always do the things we should.
Amen.

Good Morning/Afternoon Song

Sung to: "The Mulberry Bush"

This is the way we start the day, (hold hands in a circle)
Start the day, start the day.
This the way we start the day,
So early in the morning/afternoon.

First we smile and shake a hand, (smile & shake with a friend beside you)
Shake a hand, shake a hand.
First we smile and shake a hand,
So early in the morning.

Then we sit down quietly, (sit down)
Quietly, quietly (whisper when you say "quietly")
Then we sit down quietly,
So early in the morning.

We listen very carefully, (cup hand over ear)
Carefully, carefully.
We listen very carefully
So early in the morning.

Prayer Before Snack

We fold our hands
And softly say
Thank you for our snack today
Amen

Good-Bye Prayer

Thank you for the sun so bright,
Thank you for the moon at night.
Thank you for my family,
Thanks for friends who play with me.
Thanks for everything I see.
I am thankful, yes sirree!
Amen.

I Have Jesus In My Heart

Sung to: "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes"

I have Jesus in my heart
In my heart
In my heart
I have Jesus in my heart
He’s been there, right from the start
I will follow Him each day
Him each day
Him each day
I will follow Him each day
In everything I do and say

This Little Light of Mine

(Sung with right index finger in the air.
Make a horizontal circle when you sing "let it shine")

This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

Hide it under a rock? No!
I'm gonna let it shine
Hide it under a rock? No!
I'm gonna let it shine
Hide it under a rock? No!
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

Sing Chorus

Shine all over Burlington,
I'm gonna let it shine
Shine all over Burlington,
I'm gonna let it shine
Shine all over Burlington,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

Sing Chorus

Let it shine til Jesus comes,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine til Jesus comes,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine til Jesus comes,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

Sing Chorus

Humphrey The Blue-Nosed Pumpkin

Sung to: "Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer"

You know pumpkins are orange, and grow on a vine,
Baked in a pie, they taste mighty fine,
But have you heard,
Of a pumpkin quite absurd as...?

Humphrey The Blue-Nosed Pumpkin
Had a very obvious nose (like a blueberry!)
And if you ever saw it
You might even say it shows

All of the other pumpkins
Used to laugh and call him names (like Bluebeak!)
They never let poor Humphrey
Play in any pumpkin games (like checkers!)

Then one foggy Hallow's Eve
The Great Pumpkin did say
"Humphrey, with your nose so blue
You'll make all the ghosts say BOO!"

Then all the pumpkins loved him,
And they shouted out with glee,
"Humphrey, the Blue-Nosed Pumpkin,
You'll go down in his-tor-y!
