Since Sam's accident, I started finding quarters laying around. I go out of a room, and have returned to find a quarter on the floor. For lack of a logical explanation, I decided that Sam must be leaving them. There is a story behind quarters Sam and I share, making it obvious they are from him, he knew I'd recognize it..
I have a bowl full of 'mysteriously found' quarters. One day I was feeling blue, went into my room to lay down. I sat on my bed and a quarter caught my eye on the floor in front of the closet. I just looked at it, I was not in the mood and thought how stupid to even think Sam left me quarters. Then I thought, ok if it's really from you it has to be a 1980 (the year Sam was born). I picked it up and looked - 1980. Then something else caught my eye, there was another quarter near the same place. I thought there's NO WAY, I picked it up - 1980. What is really funny, since that time, EVERY single quarter I have found has been 1980. Now, what are the odds of the same year being on every quarter you find?
In the picture below is Jack. If you look behind his head you will see a black box with gold trim (I call this "Sam's Box" because I keep some of his things in it). The other day when I picked up Sam's box to vacuum, centered beneath it lay a shiny quarter. I could only imagine how that quarter got there. This picture was taken just a few days before I found that quarter. Look at the picture again, it looks like something is going on in the background that I cannot explain.
