1.      Singend (German) – Singing, melodious, cantabile

2.      Singhiozzando (Italian) – Sobbing, catching the breath

3.      Singspiel (German) – An 18th century German opera with spoken interludes

4.      Singstimme (German) – The singing voice

5.      Skip – A melodic progression  by an interval wider than a second

6.      Slancio, di (Italian) – The direct “hammer-like” attack of a higher or lower tone, as opposed to a portamento

7.      Slargandosi (Italian) – Growing slower

8.      Slentando (Italian) – Growing slower

9.      Slur – The curved line over 2 or more notes, signifying that they should be sung in one breath or on one syllable.

10.  Smaniante (Italian) – An impetuous, passionate style

11.  Sminuendo (Italian) – same as a diminuendo

12.  Sminiuto (Italian) – more softly

13.  Smorendo (Italian) – dying away

14.  Smorzando (Italina) – dying away

15.  Soavemente (Italian) – Sweetly, dolce
