| Students will receive nightly homework which is meant to reinforce concepts covered during the school day. I make it clear to the children that if they use their time effectively in class, they will have less work to take home at night. All students are expected to put both effort and time into their homework. This homework will be checked and recorded on a regular basis and recess time detentions will be given to those who do not complete their homework. However, in addition to their daily homework, I will often give long term assignments (i.e. book talks, math enrichment activities, science and social studies projects). Your child is expected to work on these assignments a little each night. In addition, every child is encouraged to spend some of their time at home writing an entry for the class newsletter. These entries can be stories, poems, reviews, songs and can be on a topic of their choice. Although this is an optional enrichment project, it is certainly rewarding to have one�s work published in a class newsletter! |
