Elegy

Why I believe a relationship would be out of character for Scully! I was watching the season 4 episode, Elegy for the first time. During the end scene for some odd reason, I wanted Mulder and Scully to hug really badly! However, I thought of some platonic explanations Cassie showed me during one of the many times I went to her with a noromo-related problem. Then, I realized how much Elegy proves that a relationship will ruin the show. During the end scene/confrontation between Mulder and Scully, they don't hug. Instead Scully leaves, then cries in her car alone. The fact that she didn't cry in Mulder's arms (despite everything she said about him to the FBI therapist woman) proves how reluctant she has always been (throughout the entire series) to get close to him. If she gets close to him all of a sudden in season 7, it will not only be wrong, but it will go against everything Scully's character has felt in the past. Therefore, a relationship will be out of character *and* unrealistic.
