Arcadia
Okay, *all*
the shippers I have talked to over the past year use Arcadia as
"proof" of Mulder and Scully's "passionate love"
::gags:: for each other. One of the many scenes in question is most
frequently used as proof. It is the scene in the bedroom, where
Mulder is lying on the bed and Scully walks in wearing the facial
mask and robe. As shippers say, Scully appeared like that in front
of Mulder, because she fesls *really* comfortable being around him.
I agree with that.....But, they also feel that she does it because
she is in love with him. I thought about that a lot, and I can see
how it makes sense to them. I've heard of some women in a long term
romantic relationship who are afraid to let their boyfriends see
them wax their upper lip! Sure, Scully is comfortable and relaxed
around Mulder, her *friend*. However, I believe it is for another
reason. The way she behaved in that situation (especially throwing
him the shirt) reminded me of a brother in his sister's bedroom.....with
*no* sexual tension! As for the facial mask, I know I wash my face
and put goop on it in front of my family (including my dad) *all*
the time! It is no big deal! Scully's action there shows how she
thinks of Mulder as family, like a brother, and not in a "ooh
baby I want you bad" kind of way.....If she *did* feel that
way, her behavior as "Laura Petrie" would have been *much*
different, IMNO.
