What's in a name? Well, I had that question in mind
when I chose my nicname for here on the web.
My hubby is really into astronomy and has taught me to appreciate it too. One day I was taking a gander at star names and their meanings when I came across this one.
Alkaid is the name
of the star that
forms
the tip of
the Big Dipper
you see in
this
background.
Alkaid means "daughter of the bear".
This was
perfect!
I lost my Dad to diabetes when
I was 17.
My Dad was a bear
and also my best friend,
besides
my Mom. He
always protected me.
I was his "baby
girl".
So in memory of my Dad,
Alkaid has become my
star. I look into the
night sky and wonder
at it's
beauty and what
it stands for, to me!
Each and every body in the sky was
placed with the most gentle care by our Lord. My Dad is no longer here on earth
with me. But when I look up and see "our star", it is just
another little reminder that like that star, he is in the
heavens and watches over me from above. Someday we will be
together again with Jesus, our Lord and Saviour as King.
Your precious beauty God has placed you with there.
Shine bright on me and remind me to see,
That through my Lord I have life, eternally!!
