Front Page of a Newspaper

You will create a front page of a newspaper based on the John Steinbeck’s novel, Of Mice and Men. If desired, you can use the Tongva Times, Los Angeles Times and other newspapers for an example of the format.

Process

1. Write an obituary. This should demonstrate your knowledge of a character’s characterization or personality.

2. Write an article based on an event from the novel. This should demonstrate your knowledge of plot or the unfolding of an event(s).

3. Create a cartoon based on the novel. Be creative. It must relate to the theme of the novel.

4. Create an advertisement. This should demonstrate your knowledge of setting, including time period and location.

5. Create a title of the newspaper, date published and assign the cost of purchasing for your newspaper.

6. Edit 1,2,3,4

7. Neatly create your final draft.

Other Requirements

•       At least 1 ½ inches should be devoted to the title, price and date of the newspaper.

•       There should be at between 3-4 columns.

•       Give the obituary and the article a title, make sure to note the author (you) below the title.

•       Please type the final draft.

•       Feel free to use innovative font for the title, but Times New Roman or Arial 10pt–12pt font for the articles. You may use clip art.

•       Be creative as possible.
