The Revealers
by Doug Wilhelm

Chapter Sixteen: Trouble Center

"What about this fat kid giving real names?"
"Their not his name."
"I don't think we should be giving any names. There already calling us rats."
"What are we supposed to do, change what the kid wrote? We can't start doing that. Either we include it or we don't."

Answer three out of the following questions:
1. Describe what you think is going on in the passage. What decision needs to be made?

2. Where do you stand on this matter? What decision would you make based on two viewpoints expressed in the above passage?

3. Homophones are words that are spelled differently and are defined differently, but sound the same, such as knight and night. The words "their," "they're," and "there," are also homophones. "Their," is used in the possessive, ex: "that is their snowboard." "There," is used to describe a place in the distance, ex: "the rapper is over there, by the Hummer." "They're," is a contraction for "they are," ex: "they're going to West Lebanon." Find the two homophones in the passage from The Revealers and correct them in red ink.

4. What are the pros and cons of revealing an identity? A superhero's identity? An online identity?
