Visiting the Noordam's
engine room
a once in a lifetime experience recorded and shown to you!
Noordam docked in Barcelona.
When we entered the port of Barcelona, HAL's Noordam was already moored. Although I made a list of all the other ships I was going to see during the itinerary, it came as a surprise that the Noordam was in the Catalonian capital as well.
In the front Noordam, in the back MSC Lirica.
The Noordam, 33930 tons and from April 1984, is clearly becoming older. Not only the outside of the ships needs a lick of paint from time to time, also the interior is quite outdated. Dark colours and a remarkable smell dominates on board.
This is the door to the controlcenter of the engine room. Entering this part of the ship was a real exciting event!!
The control center.
One of the views in the engine room. Staircases are extremely steep and oil is everywhere!
The engineers were very friendly and almost all Dutch,
so it wasn't hard to ask about the things I wanted to know.
