The Call.

Tap. Tap.

Angela Chase’s fingers drummed the keys of her computer as she stared at the glowing screen. She had been working on her 2nd novel, titled “Red”, when writers block had hit her. She was beginning to get annoyed so she decided to go outside and check the mail.

She had been living in Salem, Mass. For the past 6 years, ever since she had gotten out of University. She didn’t want to go back there. She couldn’t not after….her thoughts began to trail back to that night….the night she found out the truth.

August 28th 1997

It was 2 days before she left for University. She was sitting on her doorstep when he drove up, Jordan….Jordan Catalano. He walked up and sat down next to her.

He spoke in a husked tone “hey” and bent over to kiss her. She moved away and stood up. He looked at her with a puzzled look.

She looked at him, tears forming in her eyes. “Don’t speak just listen….” She said taking a deep breath. “You lied to me, you son of a bitch. You told me you wrote the letter and you didn’t have the guts to tell me different. What was I….a game….a game you play until it’s not fun anymore is that it?” Huh? She said and threw a piece of paper at him that she had clutched in her hand.

He looked down and opened it. It was familiar to him. It was the letter Brian had wrote 4 years ago. “How?” was the only thing he could muster to say.

“Brian told me, he told me. He said he needed to tell me, it had been eating at him for years. And you know what? Deep down I know I knew that that you didn’t write it. That you never felt anything for me at all.”

“Angela, I…” Jordan said starting to get up.

“Love me?? Oh sure, you say it when you’ve got something to lose. She paused and wiped back tears that started to fall down her already reddened cheeks. “I’m leaving tomorrow Jordan, and if I do come back I never want to see you again, now please go.”

Jordan stood up and headed to his car.  He turned back briefly as if he was going to say something but decided against it. He got in and drove away.

That was the last time she saw him….

The wind blew and snapped Angela out of her daydream. She had been true to her word; she hadn’t been back in town for over 7 years, not even for Christmas. Her mom and dad had tried to persuade her to come home, but she wouldn’t’ hear of it, it was fear, pure fear, that made her shun away.

She collected the mail and went in to put on coffee. She needed a good boost. She just poured the coffee in her cup when the phone rang, causing her to jump. She answered it on the 2nd ring.

“Hello?” she said as she sipped the coffee.

“Angela?” said the voice on the other end. Angela froze, it couldn’t be, it’ couldn’t. She recognized the voice….Jordan?

Notes: Ok I know this is way long over due. I kept putting the fanfic off and off. I kept saying I’ll do it later and never did….I’m SO SORRY.  It’s done now (and short I know, again sorry). I promise I’ll due the rest of the fanfics up as soon as I can; the next one is called “Decisions, Decisions”
