Unexpected Love

Prologue

“DESTINY!!!” a deep male voice boomed from the hallway. Destiny quickly disposed her work, so that her husband wouldn’t see.

“Destiny!” he said again in a low, taunting voice once he entered her working area.

“Yes, Fate dear.” She dragged out in her sweetest, most innocent voice. Fate glared at her.  She knew she wasn’t innocent. Destiny had been in his projects again, and he had found out. Fate hated it when she went through his cases. She batted her eyes at him.  Fate rolled his eyes and sighed.

“You’ve been in my projects again. How many times must I tell you that Destiny must not mess with Fate.” He said, gently grabbing her shoulders and looking into her eyes. His voice was gentler and Destiny knew he wasn’t mad. Not really anyway.

“And Fate must not tempt Destiny.” She replied simply and just as calm. She smirked at his expression.

“Not funny.” He stated shaking his head, but even Destiny saw the hidden smirk on his face.  She shook her head, smiling as well, and turned to go back to work.

“Fate?”

“Yes my darling Destiny?”

“How about we work on another project together?”

“Would that be wise? You do remember what happened the last time we worked together, don’t you?” he asked wrapping his arms around her slender waist and resting his head on her shoulder.

“Yes, I do. But we were drunk at the time and amateurs at the job as well. I was thinking a group of artists more than military. This way we won’t cause World War III.”

“It will happen anyway if Fate has a say so.”

“And Destiny always makes good out of Fate’s bad.” ‘Damn her.’ Fate thought. She always had a smart aleck remark to his statements. ‘All the more reason I love her.’ He thought happily. ‘Speaking of happy…’“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Tell you what dear?”

“About our baby girl.”

“Surely Fate would know of such a thing before I?” she asked in mock surprise.

“True. But I prefer hearing it from you.” He replied rubbing her stomach. Destiny turned around and faced her husband.

“I, Destiny, wife of Fate, and holder of all human’s destinies am exactly one week pregnant with a baby girl. The father is of course my darling husband, and holder of all human’s fates, Fate.” She said in a jokingly authoritative voice. Fate chuckled and rolled his eyes to the stars.

“You didn’t have to be formal, but it’s good to know.  I’m happy to be the father of my beautiful wife’s baby girl.” Fate replied in the same manner, before kissing her gently.  When they pulled apart, Destiny smiled at him and turned back to her book that was open.

“So, how about that project?”

“If you’ll stop bugging me about it, then yes.”

“Good. ’Cause we start right now.”

“You’re lucky my other cases don’t need tending too at the moment.” Destiny playfully rolled her eyes at Fate’s words.

“So who are we playing matchmaker to this time?” he asked.

“Them. And these girls will do just nicely.” She replied pointing to the names in the book.

“You’re tampering with my cases again. Their fate has already been decided.” He scolded.

“Oh, stop. From now on they’re OUR cases, and they need some happiness in their life so Destiny would have intervened anyway.”

“Fate hates Destiny’s intervention.”

“Well, Fate will have to deal. We have work to do.”

Fate sighed. “Alright, tell me your plan.”
