Chapter 2
As soon as JC and Justin left, Abby let out a deep breath and sighed. She felt confused as to why she spoke to a complete stranger about her problems and worries, but she did. JC had been so easy to talk to and something about him made her trust him.
‘JC has the most beautiful blue eyes and that smile and laugh! He’s so easy to talk to and…WAIT! I’m supposed to be thinking of Carolena! How can I be thinking about some guy I’ll most likely never see again?’ Abby thought to herself. The thought of never seeing JC saddened her, but she’d have to get over it.
Just then, Abby spotted a doctor coming towards her and all thoughts of JC left her mind as she shot up to talk to him.
“How is she? Will she live? Can I see her?” she asked in one breath, surprising the doctor. He smiled at her anxiousness.
“Ms. Gamma is going to be just fine. As you already know she has lost a lot of blood, but we quickly got that under control. She broke her foot and will have to stay off of it for three weeks. Carolena is very lucky to have escaped with only minor cuts and bruises, with the exception for that gash on her head,” the doctor explained. Abby breathed a sigh of relief. Her friend would live.
“When can she go home?” Abby asked.
“I believe she may have a concussion, so we want to keep her overnight for observation. You can go see her now if you like. She is in room 503 on the fifth floor.”
Thank you doctor,” Abby replied before rushing off to see her friend. She barely heard the call “Your Welcome” after her.
When Abby reached Carolena’s room, she took a deep breath and opened the door to see her friend.
“Fate, that was NOT part of the plan,” Destiny scolded, slowly facing her husband. Fate shrugged causing Destiny to glare at him.
“It was already pre-planned. She was supposed to die, but I altered that for you,” he said. Destiny softened.
“Fine. Making her live was good. Anything ELSE you would like to tell me about OUR cases?”
“Not a thing,” Fate replied.
“Are you sure?”
“Positive.”
“Good. Lets make it stay that way.”
“I don’t see why you’re so upset. I broke the boy’s foot so that they would meet. I thought that would make you happy,” Fate scoffed. Destiny smiled and hugged her husband.
“That I am happy for,” she replied kissing him. “But no more deviations from the original plan.”
“Alright. But how about I make some suggestions?”
“Talk to me darling,” Destiny replied turning back to their work. Fate joined her.
“First how about…”
Luckily for JC and Justin, there were hardly any fans or reporters at the hospital entrance. They passed the few that actually were there at that time of night without a care in the world. They didn’t mean to act rude, but they wanted to go back to hotel and sleep. The next morning, since they just got back into Florida, Justin would be going back to his own home in Orlando for the next couple of weeks to recover and get his strength back into his foot as well as his whole leg. While JC and Justin were at the hospital, the other three members of their group were at a press conference announcing the injury of Justin and the postponement of the tour. For the weekend, it was agreed by all the members to stay at Justin’s and help him out. After that, they would go their separate ways until the time being. But since they all had their own houses in Orlando as well, the remaining four members would be getting to see their chorographers to improve and keep up with their dance moves. It would happen three times a week so the guys would have free time to themselves.
JC helped Justin into their rental car and then got in himself to start driving back to the hotel. No one spoke for while, until JC decided to break the silence.
“You ok Justin?” he asked.
“Yes- for the millionth time, I’m FINE! I just wanna go back to the hotel and sleep.”
“I wonder how the press conference went,” JC said, again breaking the silence that overcame them.
“We’ll find out when we get there. By the way, who was that chick you introduced me to?”
“Who? Abby? Well, while you were getting your cast on, I noticed this girl sitting across from me looking really- and I mean REALLY down. Next thing ya know, I’m over there listening to her tell me about how she and her friend were in an accident.” JC took a deep breath and sighed. “I just hope her friend’s alright, J,” he finished.
“Don’t worry about it. Didn’t you say you would go visit her and her friend tomorrow?”
“Yeah.”
“Alright then. Can I come too?” Justin asked. JC looked at him, before turning his eyes back to the road.
“You know that Johnny won’t let you do anything, now that you broke your foot.”
“He can’t stop me,” Justin said, puffing out is chest.
JC rolled his eyes and continued his path down the road. ‘I’ll have to think about bringing a bodyguard or not in the morning.’ he thought. He sighed. He thought it strange that he had only known Abby for about a half an hour and he had a strange attraction to her. He wanted to hold her and say everything would be fine, just as Justin was telling him. ‘Whoa JC, slow down. You just met the girl not to long ago and you’re already thinking about her.’ he thought
JC sighed again trying to get his mind off Abby. It wasn’t working. He needed a nice hot bath and some sleep. He, Justin, and the other guys had a long day and all of them needed to rest.
“Don’t worry C, you’ll see Abby tomorrow and her friend will be alright,” Justin said looking at JC’s face. He knew that was bothering him. He really wanted JC to feel better.
JC sighed once again and turned to Justin. They had just arrived at the hotel and before either one of them opened the door JC said, “I hope so too J, I really hope so.”
When Abby walked into the hospital room, she saw a nurse changing Carolena’s bandage. She was sitting up watching TV. Carolena had yet to notice Abby’s presence.
“Alright young lady, I’ll be back in a couple of hours to check up on you,” the nurse said.
Carolena nodded as her response and the nurse turned and left, smiling at Abby on her way out. Abby released a deep breath that she hadn’t realized she was holding. She was glad her friend was going to be alright.
“Hey Carol. How you feelin’?” Abby startled Carolena but quickly realized it was only her friend.
“Hey Abs! I feel alright. A lot of bruises, one huge cut, and a broken foot, but fine. What time is it? I didn’t seem to stay awake long enough to find out.”
“Late. Almost two in the morning.”
“Did you eat anything? You were pretty hungry when we left.”
“How am I supposed to think about food when I was so worried about you? Don’t be switching roles on me,” Abby said as she was laughing. She was sitting next to Carolena on the bed. “Are you sure you’re alright?”
“If one more person asks me that, I’ll punch ‘em. I’m FINE!”
Abby laughed again. “At least now I know you’re still yourself. Just please tell someone if you feel any pain, ok?”
“Yes mom,” Carolena drawled out, rolling her eyes.
“And make sure you always wear clean underwear and wash in all the right places,” Abby joked in a motherly tone before laughing.
“Ugh! Abs!” Carolena screamed before joining in the laughter. “So what have you been doing all this time?”
‘Should I tell her about JC? She’ll annoy me like crazy for sure. After Kevin – Wait a minute I just met the guy and I’m already thinking about dating! Put yourself together Abby! You might not even see him again. But I really want to and...' Abby thought before being interrupted by Carolena.
“Hello! Earth to Abby!” Carolena screamed.
“Huh? Oh, I was just thinking. That’s all, nothing much,” she replied a bit nervously. Carolena raised an eyebrow in question.
You’re hiding something from me Abs. What is it? You never get nervous about anything unless something happened with a…” a smirk came to Carolena’s face when she realized what had happened. Abby had met a guy.
“What?” Abby asked.
“Ok. What’s his name?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Abby replied, deciding to play dumb.
“Abby! I know you met someone. Who is he?”
“Can I sign your cast? I wanna be the first to sign it.”
“Abby!”
“Alright!” ‘Damn. I hate it when she does that.’ “His name is JC. He’s supposedly in some music group with four other guys. One of them, Justin I think his name was, broke his foot, and JC brought him here. Anyways, he saw how distressed I was and came over to comfort me because I was crying up a storm. It was kinda embarrassing cuz’ he had to see me like that but he was so sweet. He listened to everything I had to say. Then he had to go,” Abby explained.
“When will you see him again?”
“I don’t know. He said he would stop by tomorrow, or should I say today, but I realized after he left, that he has no clue where I am.
“Why don’t you wait in the lobby?”
“Not all day! He didn’t even say what time, just that he was coming.”
“Oh well, we’ll deal with that tomorrow. You, my dear friend, need to get some rest.”
“What did I tell you about switching roles on me,” Abby joked. “And I’m not leaving ‘til I sign your cast,” she added, grabbing a pen off the table.
Carol,
No more hospital visits and broken bones for you, ok? Stay out of trouble! Feel better, heal quick, and always know I love ya!
Abby
“There,” Abby said. Carolena read the cast.
“Love ya too girl,” she replied, and the two girls hugged. “Now go home and sleep,” Carolena commanded. Abby nodded.
“Only if you sleep too,” Abby said, as she got up and walked to the door to leave. But Carolena stopped her.
“JC, as in JC Chasez, and Justin, as in Justin Timberlake of NSYNC?” Carolena asked, piecing together the puzzle.
“I don’t know.”
“What did they look like?”
“Well, JC had blue eyes, ‘bout five-eleven, and dark brown hair. Let’s see…oh yeah, Justin had blue eyes as well and light brown hair, and after he got up from his wheelchair, he looked to be about six-something, but I couldn’t tell.”
“OH MY GOD!” Carolena yelled. Abby looked at her as if she was crazy.
