Introduction

     The Three Little Pigs leave their mother's house and build their own houses.  The wolf tries to eat the three pigs.  Why are two of the pigs’ houses blown down?  Why does the wolf try to eat the three little pigs?  Are all The Three Little Pigs stories the same?

Task

  • Read and Listen to different versions of The Three Little Pigs. 
  • Retell a version of The Three Little Pigs .
  • Compare two versions of The Three Little Pigs using a Venn diagram.
  • Research facts about wolves and write three facts you learned.
  • Make three houses for the three little pigs using Easter grass, craft sticks and clay, and Lego blocks.  Each house must withstand the wolf's blow (a hair dryer).

The Process

1. You will listen to and read different versions of the Three Little Pigs.  Some stories are provided by book marked websites.

2.  You will learn the vocabulary and develop sight words based on the story.

3.  You will learn to retell the story using finger puppets and will order pictures and write a retelling.

4.  You will work with a partner to compare two versions of The Three Little Pigs and record the results on a Venn Diagram .

5.  You will visit a book marked website on wolves and write at least three things you learned about wolves and draw a picture.  Facts about wolves.

6.  You will work in cooperative groups of three to construct houses for the three little pigs.  The houses will then be tested for strength using a hair dryer.  The results will be recorded on a class graph.   The 3 little pigs' houses
