·          Presently working as Software – System engineer for TietoEnator, Munich. at Siemens Communications, Ulm, Germany (from July 2006)

               

        Job responsibilities:

o         Testing of layer 1 software for channel board in UMTS node B.

o         Design / testing and implementation of DSP software.

 

 

·          Worked as a Layer 1 software engineer at Navini networks on development and support of S-CDMA and OFDM (WiMAX) base station (from Jan to June 2006)

 

Notable contributions:

o         Involved in development and support related issues of layer 1 modules for base station.

o         Synchronization handling and distance from base station calculation for 3 different models of CPE’s

o         Testing of algorithms for beamforming (proprietary technology), demodulation, and some link budget related issues.

o         Analysis of proprietary joint detection and enhanced nulling algorithm.

 

·          Worked at BITSIM consultants AB, Sweden on detailed investigation, design and simulation of channel coding schemes (CTC and BTC) for WiMAX uplink signal chain (from June 2005 to Oct 2006 – with a break in between)

 

        Notable contributions:

o         Checked the performance of channel coding for 802.16e (WiMAX) uplink signal chain, based on specifications IEEE 802.16-2004 and IEEE P802.16-2004/Cor1/D3.

o         Designed and simulated convolutional turbo codes using Log-MAP and MAX Log-MAP algorithms.

o         Designed and simulated block turbo codes using Chase algorithm.

o         Documented the simulation results in white paper.

 

·          Worked at Analog Devices Inc. Sweden on detailed investigation of the 802.16e (WiMAX) standard for its implementation on programmable devices such as DSP TigerSHARC. (October 2004 to April 2005)

 

        Notable contributions:

o        Understood all WiMAX standards (802.16a, 802.16c, 802.16d and 802.16e) and simulated signal chain for 802.16e based  on IEEE specification 802.16-2004

o        Designed and simulated the above system to check channel estimation for different symbol times and channel conditions.

o        Developed efficient ranging measurement methods (Time, frequency and power offset) and reduced their complexity, in view of processing load for DSP TigerSHARC.

o        Investigated, designed and simulated the beam forming requirements for 802.16e

o        Worked with an international team of highly qualified engineers.

 

Worked on design and simulation of the following in MATLAB:

 

o       WiMAX (802.16e) signal chain.

o       OFDM and CDMA based wireless system for various channel conditions and receiver implementation.

o       Source coding (DCT, linear prediction, vector and scalar quantization) and Channel coding schemes (Block, convolutional, turbo codes (Block and convolutional). Have good understanding of Reed Solomon and LDPC codes).

o       Signal processing algorithms for equalization, filtering, detection and spectral estimation.

 

 

Projects:

 

o          Design of CDMA based cellular system:

Design and analysis of a cellular system based on large scale fading, coverage probability, cell planning and analysis of DS-CDMA system (Rake receiver) for wireless slow Raleigh fading channels utilizing diversity options. Also analysis of the system at different Doppler, and ways to overcome it using interleaving and coding

 

o          Audio signal processing:

A series of projects done on detecting an audio message recoded in noisy environment, implementation of inverse filter for a acoustic channel, cancellation of echo generated in an acoustic channel using LMS algorithm on Texas Instrument DSP 6711 and Adaptive sub band coding was implemented on audio signals. The projects were done at Chalmers.

 

o          Spectral Estimation:

Estimating spectral content of a harmonic signal based on Kalman filtering, Non-periodic and periodic methods. The projects was done at Chalmers.

 

o          Data Compression :

Projects involved discrete cosine transform (DCT), linear prediction, Scalar (with various quantization techniques) and vector quantization and lossless compression techniques (Huffman, arithmetic and dictionary coding schemes). All projects were done at Chalmers

 

o          Implementation of Wireless Communication system between Computers: A firmware project with M ary FSK based design and the software programming done using ‘C’ language. This was my Bachelor thesis.

 

o        Design of C language based simulator for 8051 Micro-controller: Developed a tool for simulating the functionality of INTEL 8051 microcontroller.

 

 

Achievements:

 

o        Author of a white paper for Analog devices titled ‘OFDMA in WiMAX’

o        Author of a white paper for Bitsim consultants Inc, Stockholm, on performance of sub carrier allocation schemes and channel coding algorithms in WiMAX (802.16e).

o        Worked on a research paper giving a novel method of reducing PAPR significantly in OFDM system. The algorithm results in no distortion at all and neither requires any side information at the receiver nor increases its complexity. Work was done along with a student at Royal institute of technology, Sweden and is yet to be published.
