Hey Everyone...exciting news...I've been officially accepted to go back to Hong Kong next summer! I am sooo excited about this and I ask that you would be lifting me up to Our Father already as I prepare. It is going to be quite a struggle to keep my heart in check about the fact that I'm not there in any way shape or form to recreate last summer! I know there is an incredible work to be done there next summer and I'm so stoked to be a part of that...but before I'm ready to go there I need to be ready here! This past summer I taught at a makeshift English Camp in Hong Kong due to the trouble with SARS. How everything worked was not a typical scenerio (e.g. we had 2 different sets of students for 2 weeks each) of how Camp China normally functions. Everything had to be thrown together at incredibly short notice and was only accomplished by the sheer grace of Our Father!
This next summer I am planning on continuing my work in Hong Kong on the short-term level by participating in the Camp China program again. This summer, however, should look quite different from the last. Rather than staying in a hostel we will be living on a university campus or some other place like that. It will be much more like the normal Camp China experience so let me give you a run down of what that is like.
...Teaching one class of students (14-18 yrs old) for 4 weeks
...Rather than teaching at the school the students normally attend we will have students from more than one school coming together in more of a camp setting. They may possibly even live together in some sort of living arrangement more like camps here.
...Daily I will have the majority of my time spent with my students specifically, but there will also be a time when I will get to have other classes as guests
...In the afternoons we will have all school assemblys where we get to do a lot of things; especially partaining to American culture.
