THE POWER OF GIVING
How You Benefit from Your Generosity!
Giving is an innate part of our human nature. It is our human instinct to extend help to those in need. This instinct moves us into action when situation calls for it.
When was the last time you gave your spouse a warm hug? or a bouquet of sweet-smelling flowers? Your simple act of extending a gift of candy, jewelry, a piece of artwork, or even taking someone out for dinner at your expense, makes the recipient feel very special and unforgotten indeed! Strangers warmly acknowledge you for such kind gesture, and your spouse or children sincerely love you even more! Generous giving binds relationships. It is the central key to the doorways of romantic success and the power which removes the walls of fear and of doubt brought about by insensitivity.
Your genuine act of kindness stimulates receptive emotions. It earns you respect from your loved ones, friends, and even strangers. People look up to you as somebody who can be relied on, a source of sustenance not only materially, but also emotionally and spiritually. And the next thing you know, the recipients of your generosity are extending their hand to you when you get to be in need. Not only that! Even if you are not in need, they offer or give you something of value in return, material or immaterial, just to show their heartfelt appreciation.
As we travel this journey called life, most of us love to bring baggage along the way; baggage like worries, frustrations, or problems. Giving your time to listen or share a moment helps others unload their heavy baggage. You make them feel important and worthy in spite of who they are - whatever mess they've created or whatever trouble they've gotten into. The fact that you took the time, even just for a minute or two, to include that person into your life leaves a lasting impression upon the heart of the individual, and that enduring impression is the ultimate compliment.
The simple yet sincere deed you bestow definitely never go unnoticed. Your genuine gesture not only inspires the recipient but also those who witness your generosity. Action do speak louder than words and your action impels people to confer the same generosity to others. What an inspiring thing to do! If all people practice acts of generous giving in their everyday life this world will be a better and safer place to live in.
Our too much attachment to ourselves, to people, or possessions makes us forget one truth - that we are not only made of flesh and bones. Such attachment makes people tied up with their past that they have chosen to carry it with them in the present. Likewise, they get so preoccupied with the future that they tend to forget to live their present. The practice of genuine giving loosens our tight grip on our worldly possessions, our load of the past, and our to much preoccupation of the future. Loosening our grip doesn't mean living a life of neglect, insensitivity, and irresponsibility. What it means is living your life at present significantly and relevantly by serving God, by doing your best to enhance yourself and be a productive individual, and by valuing people and help them grow as well. In this context, generous giving creates balance within us.
Lastly, the recognition of the truth that we are body and spirit moves us to thank God in a very concrete way and this is made evident by our gestures of generosity. Generosity is a simple way of saying "thank you" to God, the very source of our being. It reflects our reverence of God's presence in our lives and our high regard for ourselves and for others as God's special creation.
There is no limit in loving God nor in our generous giving, and the benefits that go with it are ABSOLUTELY FREE. Do not deprive yourself with the real happiness, joy and gladness that God wants you to experience in your life.. Give with a cheerful heart, with open hands, and discover what it can do to you and the difference you make in other people's lives!
