What's New with Ms. Lam? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Happy Canada Day! When I first came to Canada with my family, I was a mixed bag of emotions: excited, nervous, sad, angry. My first year of adjustment was really tough; it was a year of highs and lows. I really missed England. Some days I hated everything about being here -- I loathed the winters, school, not being with my friends back home. But gradually, the negative feelings faded, to be replaced with an appreciation and understanding of my new country. Over the years, as I experience more and more of this wonderful land, this appreciation has grown to include respect, pride, joy and love. I hope that one day you too will grow to love Canada and embrace this country as your own. I wish all of you and your families a wonderful and safe Canada Day. --July 1, 2003 |

| June 1st already! How quickly time flies by. :-( How many more days until the last day of school? Click here to find out. --June 1, 2003 |

| It's 4 a.m., and I've just finished another Rinaldo page. I must be crazy. Eeeks! Do you think it's the Duh virus? --May 31, 2003 |

| It's really boring being home sick. Thanks for your emails; they really cheered me up. I miss you guys too. --May 9, 2003 |

| Nice drive home today... NOT! Oh well, at least my car got a good wash. Anyway, I forgot to congratulate the winner of "Name the artist of this painting" (see March 6). Mr. "Ms. Lam, I have two questions" gave the correct answer: Amedeo Modigliani. I am thinking of a suitable prize. (Remind me, OK?) --May 5, 2003 |

| I hope all of you are being good for the supply teacher. The conference is very interesting. I am going again today. I haven't been with you to make me crazy, so I don't understand why I'm so tired. Last night I went to bed at 8:30 and woke up when my alarm went off. I probably went to bed earlier than all of you! The weather forecast says it's going to be sunny all weekend, so please go outside and play -- don't stay inside. I didn't give you very much homework for the weekend. And I won't take up the Language papers on Monday. :-) So play (and read), and I'll see you on Monday. --May 1, 2003 |

| Geez, you guys are a tough audience. Didn't like the "gram" joke, eh? And I thought my ending to the polygon story was soooooo clever, too. I was chuckling all the way through writing it. So... what do you think about my idea of a novel study? :-) --April 4, 2003 It's April Fool's Day, and I missed the chance to play a trick on you guys. :-( --April 1, 2003 |

| You learn something new every day! I never knew that James Earl Jones and Tom Cruise invented the IMAX projection system in 1968. (Tom was only 5--boy, was he smart!) Hmmm. BUT I look on the bright side: thank you for making me laugh, Goof Brother #2. :-) --March 31, 2003 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| James Earl Jones, the voice of Star War's Darth Vader, and Tom Cruise, of Minority Report and Mission Impossible, are also Canadian inventors?! Just where did you find that information, Goof Bro #2? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It has been fascinating doing the research for Rinaldo's Social Studies pages, in particular "Canadian Contributions to Technology" and "Other Inventions." I never realized that Canadians had done so much. --March 30, 2003 Arghhhhh! My ears! --March 23, 2003 OK, I've tried to fix the layering problem some of you are having on Little Joe's Math Journal, Rinaldo's Math Page and Your Homework. I've also tweaked with the Home Page. Please email me and let me know if it works. --March 17, 2003 I'm baaaaaack! I went away for March break and had a great time eating and sleeping. I hope all of you had a wonderful break, too. I hope you went outside to play and didn't spend too much time on the computer. AND I'm not talking about your speech research -- I know you guys! -- I'm talking about computer games, MSN, etc. I'll be watching tomorrow for those of you with sore wrists from too much mouse clicking. :) Of course, as soon as I got home, I went on this site and added some stuff. I've made a new trivia quiz for you to try, more Rinaldo math pages, and a cross-Canada and the world weather report page. --March 16, 2003 What do you mean the picture is weird?! How rude! That is a painting by a very famous artist! I'll give a prize to the first student who can name the painter. --March 6, 2003 Why is there always a snowstorm when I have appointments? Did anyone notice Monday's date? It was 03-03-03! I wonder what we were doing at 3:03 (probably planner... til 3:30 -- you guys are sooooo slow!). Anyway,I've received some good feedback from you about this site. I'm still a neophyte (look up that word) at doing web sites, but I will try to include some of the things you suggested. There are some things I won't do though, such as a guestbook, even though it's a great idea. Remember what I told you about internet safety? Have you noticed that I don't mention the school or your names? I don't want a guestbook where you will sign your names or email address. Sorry. --March 5, 2003 What's new? Well, my ear is getting worse, BUT not bad enough for me to be off sick, so it's a VERY good idea for you to study hard for the multiples and factors test tomorrow. :) Don't forget to bring your jot notes from the trading partners presentations; we'll go over the information tomorrow. See you tomorrow. --Feb. 27, 2003 Nothing's new. (Well, this web site is new, but I wrote about that on the main page, so I won't write about it again.) --Feb. 26, 2003 Back to Home Page |
