Why Do We Have Night and Day? |
||||||||||||||||
The earth rotates on its axis. The axis is the imaginary line that runs through the Earth, from the North Pole to the South Pole. The earth spins once every 24 hours. As the earth rotates, the part that is facing the sun gets the sun's light. It is day. The part of the earth that is not facing the sun is dark. It is night. The parts that are half and half are dawn and dusk. The picture on the left shows the times. The perspective is looking down at the North Pole. PRACTICE: Explain to Little Joe why we have night and day, using your own words. |
