    Stamen
  1. Anther
  2. filament
Stamen is the male part of the plant made from Anthers and Filaments. Inside the Anther Pollen, the gamete is formed. The Filaments support and supply nutrition to the Anthers.

The Pistil or Carpel is the female part of the flower consisting of the Stigma, Style and Ovary. The Stigma rests on top of the Style. It is sticky to hold onto Pollen. Here Pollen lands and beings to migrate to the Ovary. The Style sports the Stigma and serves as a channel for the pollen tube to the Ovary. The Ovary contains the Ovules, the female gametes. Here the fertilization occurs.

Petals are brightly colored to attract pollinators. Sepals are leaf structures and that serve as protection for the developing flower. The Receptacle is the connection point of the flower to the Peduncle. Peduncle is an other way of saying plant stem.

Most plant are not self-fertilizing, thus they need an external source to move the Pollen to the Stigma. These are insects, wind, and animals.
