Crew Manifest USS
Independence
Captain Mackenzie
Calhoun, Commanding Officer
(Loosely based on the
character in Peter David's "Star Trek New frontier"-series. No
copyright infringement intended - mainly because the character in these stories
is so much younger.)
Mackenzie Calhoun was
headhunted for the Raven Squad because of his tactical brilliance, and his
exceptional innovative thinking.
He was selected as
captain of the Raven Squad after his rather unusual solution to the Kobyashi
Maru simulator test at the academy.
He has a hot temper,
and his desire for romance has earned him more than one mark on his record.
However, despite his
strong emotions, he is an excellent captain....for a boy of 19.
Commander Jennifer
Glenn, First Officer
Since she was brought
in to fill the position as first officer at the last minute, Jennifer is still
a little unfamiliar with some of the crew - but she is working hard to overcome
it.
Her personal records
requires very high clearance, so little is known about her past - except that
her parents ran a bar on a colony world - and that she was a bartender there,
before applying to the academy.
She is a competent
officer, with something of a temper and a knack for command. She keeps her head
cool, even in critical situations, and despite her respect for Calhoun - she is
never afraid of telling him, when she thinks he is wrong.
Lieutenant Eric
McKeon, Chief Engineer
Although an expert on
computers, and a wizard with a hydrospanner - Eric has a hard time competing
with the rest of the crew on the social level.
Shy, careful and quiet
- those are the keywords for Eric. He is most happy at his workstation, running
tests and tinkering with the engines.
Recently, roomers has
been flying around that Eric and his assistant Chief, Sharon Riker, has begun
dating. Both deny it completely.
Eric is the only
member of the crew Captain Calhoun truly calls his friend.
Lieutenant Shakar
Marcktock, Chief of Security
As a Klingon, raised
by humans, Shakar is remarkably well adjusted.
He takes his job very
serious, and tends to take any mistakes by his subordinates as his personal
responsibility.
His way of thinking is
more human than Klingon, but occasionally a Klingon expression or a phrase like
"There is no honour in that" creeps into his speech, and you know the
Klingon inside him is fighting to get out.
He is an excellent
marksman with a phaser, is strong and tough in a fight, and dedicated to his
ship - what more could you possibly ask for in an officer? Well, maybe a little
more humour...
Lieutenant Mina Chandra,
Chief Conn Officer
Born and raised on
Betazed (near the Jalara jungle), Chandra exhibits the typical Betazoid
demeanour: She is stunningly beautiful, very open minded, and very social. That
she is also an excellent pilot, and in a crisis brave as a Klingon
warrior...these are merely a bonus.
At her place at the
Conn, she steers the Independence through the uncharted territory of the Gamma
Quadrant - while providing a pleasant view for the bridge crew at the same
time.
Lieutenant Miranda
Rover, Chief Operations Manager
Miranda is
half-Klingon, raised by humans on Earth. She is fascinated, however, by the
Klingon culture and lifestyle. She speaks the Klingon language fluently, she
even has her own Bat'Leth, and practices often.
She is very loyal to
the captain, but has slowly begun shifting her affections to the first officer
- she feels more connected with her.
Indy (short for
Independence)
Indy is the Artificial
Intelligence that is the central computer core on the Independence.
Programmed by Lt.
Cmdr. Data of the Enterprise, Indy gained self-awareness shortly after the trip
through the singularity.
She has chosen a
holographic representation of a young redheaded girl, the better to interact
with the crew and the captain. In fact, particularly the captain.
Indy possesses the
knowledge of a starship computer - which means an almost unlimited memory - but
has the social skills and tact of a very young child.
Fortunately, she is
very happy with the crew, and helps them in any way she can. If they could only
stop her from looking at them through the internal sensors...
This is the command
crew of the Federation starship USS Independence. Now, enjoy the stories.
