It's not Tekken's debut performance on the PlayStation 2 and we just hope Namco would redeem themselves after a poor but OK performance with Tekken Tag Tournament. This is the fourth instalment in what seems like the king of fighters. The Iron Fist Tournament is once again beginning to hot up. This is because Law has returned, Paul is armed with a girlfriend and some sparkly new costumes are in store including Heihachi, the final boss, who is in a nappy (well that sumo thong). And yes , this is a real sequel of one of the most coveted 3D fighters ever. .

Along with many of the now famous characters, Namco have stuck in 3 new fighters; Christie, Steve and Craig. To be more of a critic, Christie is just Eddie in female form, which of course disappoints and with similar button bashing moves, this new character is unsatisfactory. Steve Fox is a middle weight British boxer, and in doing
so he has no kick moves but powerful punch moves, he is better than it sounds though
Tekken's excellent control system includes the four action buttons, with two for kicks and two for punches. This allows for more convoluted combinations. Even the grapples are now like a combo with the left kick & left punch together producing this hold

The key to success in Tekken 4 is defence and not attack. In fact, to be a hardcore grappler here you need both tactics. And to further improve is how much space you have between you, your opponent and the wall. It's rewarding, fun, in-depth and truly spectacular to play. This is more so when playing with a mate, it adds to the enjoyment and increases it's lifespan after a one player mode in which there are so many moves to master. Further more, remember Tekken Force from the 3rd instalment? Well, it's back and as always it's better than ever before
as they are a real test and it's more 3D than before rather than a side scroller that looks 3D. This certainly makes a change to the samey Arcade mode in fighting games.
The graphics are fantastic. They are much crisper, clearer and jaw dropping than it's Tag prequel. The good combination of new bright and dark colours adds to the graphical effect. Probably won't be as nice as Dead or Alive 3 but packs a whole lot of punch and pushes the PS2 hard. The fighters also seem to run more smoothly and fight effortlessly So the game sounds great, and it is, but if this was the first Tekken made it would have got well over the ninties mark but unfortunately it has not moved on enough from Tekken 2, 3 and Tag. Most of the gameplay is the same which is disapointing
