Priscilla Chadbourne, 100, of
Livingston died on her birthday, Tuesday, Feb. 1, at the
Diamond K. Retirement Lodge. Cremation has taken place
under the direction of the Franzen-Davis Crematory in
Livingston, and memorial services will be held at a later
date.
Mrs. Chadbourne was born Feb. 1, 1900, in Livingston,
Mont., the daughter of William and Elizabeth (England)
Hughes. She spent her early life and attended schools in
the area of Aldrich, Mont., and also in Livingston. She
married Glenn A. Chadbourne on July 27, 1919, in Boulder,
Mont., and helped him run a ranching business in the
Shield's Valley, which is located north of Livingston. In
1924, two of Mrs. Chadbourne's nephews and one niece came
to live with the family. She and Glenn moved to
Livingston in 1966 and continued to operate the ranch
until they retired in 1973. Glenn died in June 1984.
Mr. and Mrs. Chadbourne both loved to dance and ran the
dances at the hall in Chadbourne, a community in the
Shield's Valley. During their retirement, they enjoyed
dancing regularly at the Elk's and at the Livingston Golf
and Country Club. She also was very active in the Red
Cross Blood Bank for many years. Mrs. Chadbourne was an
avid bowler and regularly enjoyed bowling in the local
coffee league. Over the years she won many trophies for
her expert bowling.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three
sisters; her son, Alan Chadbourne; grandchildren Marianne
and Glenn E. Chadbourne; nephew Monte Chadbourne and a
niece Mazie Westling.
Survivors include her son Clarence Chadbourne and his
wife Marion of Livingston; daughter, Glendamae
Mecklenburg and her husband Howard; the nephew that she
raised, Vaughn Chadbourne of Bozeman; three
grandchildren, Mervin Mecklenburg, Phillip Mecklenburg
and George Mecklenburg; several great-grandchildren and
numerous nieces and nephews.
