| LOCATION: MGM Grand, Las Vegas JOB: First man of the new millenium to box Mohammed Ali DESCRIPTION: The MGM Grand is one of the best hotel/stadium/theme park/casino crossover in the world, and needless to say, they stage alot of boxing events. This one was unique though - Mr. T vs. Mohammed Ali. "Basically," states promoter Kent Chalmers, "we wanted to create the first great fight of the millenium. Tyson vs. Lewis sucked, anyway. Between you and me, Ali didn't stand a chance - the guy has Parkinson's disease and he's like 70. In retrospect, it was probably in poor taste, but I'll be damned if Mr. T didn't hop in the ambulance with him and kick him as they drove. Heh... yeah." Then how does that explain this photo? Ali isn't even in boxing gear. "Yeah, well, you see, Ali didn't think he'd be up to fighting Mr. T," claims Chalmers. "He was right, of course, but that's not the point. So we just had the fight in a children's hospital on one of Ali's daycare visits. Come to think of it, those children did look pretty frightened. Heh heh, oh well, we'll think it through more thoroughly next time." Ali is on life-support and said to be improving, and when he's in a state where he doesn't need a machine to breath for him, the sequel will be live on Pay-Per-View. <<<Back to the site. |
