I'd like to take this time to introduce myself to you. My name is Mrs. Christine Williams.
I have taught a split grade 1 - 2 for 4 years, grade one for 5 years and grade 2 for one year. During that time 4 years were spent working only half time in the classroom and half time as a Reading Recovery teacher. I received my Bachelor of Education from Brandon University. I created this web site while working full time in a grade 1 - 2 classroom; therefore some of the information found at this site will no longer pertain to how our classroom works; however, I do not want to delete it as it is useful information for other teachers.
My beliefs about learning and teaching are:
I believe children deserve respect.
I believe that children should enjoy school and learning. I want my students to feel good about themselves as learners and as individuals.
I believe my job is to teach until a child learns. Students should be able to work at appropriate levels for them and be encouraged to progress at their own rates.
I believe a good learning experience is built on a cooperative effort between parent, child and teacher. I hope that we can develop a partnership, which will greatly benefit your child.
I believe that the attitudes that I display and the environment I establish set the learning tone in the classroom. I work to create a stimulating, interesting, changing and child centered environment.
