| Children love Jillian Jiggs, and it is easy to get them inspired by the rest of Phoebe Gilman's books. I usually spend a month studying Phoebe Gilman's books. We do character sketches of Jillian, we compare the story Something From Nothing to the video using graphic organizers and we do listening activities with the stories she has on tape. But perhaps we have the most fun learning to draw pigs in art. We look closely at Phoebe Gilman's pigs and then we try to create our own. The students came up with some fantastic ideas including superman, a knight, martians, hockey pigs and even a Santa pig! |
