| The 8th Grade Stock Market Project is a cross curriculum project connecting technology with math and social studies. It is a self-guided program with teachers acting as facilitators. Each student will start by researching one local company using a list of questions on a study guide and report these results to their classmates. The students will then be given 10,000 fictitious dollars to purchase stocks and create a portfolio from 5 different companies. They will have 4 weeks to distribute this money and track their results on a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. At the conclusion of the 4 weeks, they will use Excel to create charts that show the trend of their stock purchases. They will analyze their data, compare it to their company's past trends and then project future trends for their assigned company. To conclude the project, they will develop a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation to show the results of their findings and their projections. |
