Classroom Policies and Guidelines

Academic Policy:

A students grade will be determined by the following formula:

    Homework 20%
    Quizzes 40%
    Tests   40%

Homework, consisting of either a written assignment or studying, will be assigned at least 4 nights a week.  There will be at least one quiz a week and at least one test per marking period.  Any student caught cheating or helping another student to cheat will receive an F and a write-up.

Discipline Policy:

As we all know, good order and discipline is vital to a successful classroom.  In fact the word discipline derives from discipulus, the Latin word for student.  I fully expect that all students who walk through my door have already been taught the importance of proper behavior at
home.  My rules are simple and fair.  No swearing, no throwing things, no talking while the teacher is talking, be respectful to the teacher, fellow students and school property at all times.  All students receive a test grade in conduct.  Each term each student will start off with 100 and points will be deducted if any rules are broken (2 for talking, 3 for throwing things, 5 for talking back and 10 for being kicked out of class).

Detention:

When a student receives detention from myself, or any other teacher, they are required to show up after school either that day or the following day.  Students who skip detention will recieve additional time after school and students who repeatedly skip detention will spend class in the office until they serve their time.
