Reader Response

Prior knowledge is a large piece of the puzzle when planning an effective lesson.  A teacher must be able to connect new knowledge to a student's prior knowledge.  In order for the student to remain engaged it is essential that the student reach a total understanding of the knowledge and infromation being presented.  If a student is unable to connect his/her prior kowledge to that of his new kowledge a great deal of discouragement may occur.  Prior knowledge, engaging the student to a complete understanding, and creating an appropriate assessment that is in accordance with the student's level are all processes that make a teacher effective.  In this reader response, I express my acquired knowledge in this area by discussing the effect os prior knowledge on classroom instruction  I also lay out reasons in which a student may have difficulty becoming engaged in instruction in this reader response.
