| Things to Know! |
| Attendance Attendance is VITAL! A missed day is a day without learning. Students can never make up what they miss. For this reason, I encourage 100% attendance. Please make all doctor and dentist appointments for after school. If your child is ill, please help them get well as soon as can be! I will miss them! I need to have a current phone number for you. I will call to check on your child if they are not in class by 8:30. I will send home any missed work the next day they return. If it is an introductory lesson that I have taught, they will receive no work until I get a chance to pull them to the side and reteach the lesson. I usually do this during recess time. We learn a LOT of new skills in fourth grade! Please have your child at school and on time. Upon return to school, your child will need a letter from you stating the reason for their absence. This is required by our principals. Birthdays You are allowed to bring a snack to school to celebrate your child's birthday. We can serve this snack the last 15 minutes of our day (1:45). The snack must be something that is ready to go like cupcakes or precut brownies. No drinks please. Please contact me so I will know to prepare in my lesson plans that this is happening. Birthday party invitations will not be allowed to be passed out in my class unless there is a party invitation for each student in the class. I understand that a birthday party with 22 children is excessive. I also understand hurt feelings. If you can't invite all the class, then please consider a class snack or mailing the invitations. Visitors to the Classroom I welcome visitors to our class! I ask only that you allow me the first six weeks of school to establish my routines and procedures with the students. After that, just sign in at the office and come on down. Don't be suprised if I give you work to do while you observe. Volunteers Speaking of work to do, we could use some volunteers at Carver Elementary! If you are interested in running papers, helping pop popcorn, etc. please contact me and I will find a job for you to do! |
