Spelling Contract
     Read the choices below to decide what activities you would like to complete.  You may choose any combination of activities as long as they add up to
100 points or more.  Spelling Contracts are due FRIDAY morning and no later!  Put the point value next to each activity you turn in.  Add all the total points and circle them on the top page of your homework.  Have fun!!
*Some activities will require a parent to send a note saying it was completed.


25 Point Choices..........
� Rainbow Spelling:  Write your words 3 times each tracing over your words with 3 different colors.
� Illustrate at least � of your words, write the spelling word under your picture.
� I Spy:  Draw a picture and hide your words inside.
� Write your words as many times as there are syllables.
� Trace your words in shaving cream 3 times each *(Parent note required)
� Write your words in ABC order 2 times each.
� Write your words in reverse ABC order 2 times each.
� Take a practice test with a parent and have them grade it. *(Parent signature required)
� Write your words from longest to shortest then shortest to longest.
� Write the spelling words 2 times each and underline all the vowels.
� Write the spelling words 2 times each and underline all the consonants.
� Use 10 of your spelling words to write 10 questions.  Don�t forget your punctuation!



50 Point Choices...........
� Write each word 6 times each in cursive.
� Type each word 6 times each on a computer.  (No all capital fonts!)
� Make a word search (Include your answers)
� Write sentences using all of your words, underline the words, and include no more than 2 spelling words per sentence.
� Make a crossword puzzle using your words.  (Include your answers) www.puzzlemaker.com
� Choose 3 spelling words and make as many words as you can out of each.  Don�t combine all the letters from all 3 words.  Take one word and make as many words out of it, then go on to your next spelling word and do the same.
�  Look up each word in the dictionary and write the guide words for each.
� Make a study bag:  On index cards, write your word on one side and a sentence on the other.  Put them all in the bag and have your parents quiz you.  They must ask you to spell it and be able to use it in a sentence.  I will send this bag back home so you can continue to add to it. (Parent note stating that they quizzed you.)
� Make a spelling word puzzle from each word. ( Print your word.  Cut apart the letters of your spelling word.  Practice putting the letters back together spelled correctly.)  *Parent signature for this one.

75 Point Choices ..........
� Write a story using all your words.  It must be at least 15 sentences long and your words must be underlined.
� Write a poem using � of your words in your best cursive handwriting.  Give it a title and illustrate it.
� Make a game that uses all of your words.  Include instructions and be prepared to explain it to the class and play it with a classmate.
� Create a product on a poster you would like to sell and use � of your words to advertise it.  Your poster must include the product, name, illustration, and cost.  Be creative and ready to share.
� Pretend you are a news anchor, weather person, or reporter. Using your spelling words, report to write a report.
� Make a mobile that displays all of your spelling words.  Be creative.  Each piece of your mobile should have your word and an illustration.
� Create a comic strip and write captions using your words.  Underline your words.
� Cut letters (not words) from a magazine or newspaper and glue them on paper to spell your words.
� Make a picture dictionary using your words:  Make a book out of paper.  Each page can show all the words that go with that letter, an illustration, and a definition.  You may also choose to use a different page for each word.  As long as you have done all your words in the correct ABC order it�s fine


Contract work is due
EVERY FRIDAY without fail.  If school is not to be held on a certain Friday, the work will automatically be due on Thursday.  You will need to keep a copy of this sheet in your homework folder for easy access.  Contract work not turned in will result in loss of recess time until all work is caught up.
