Dear Parent,
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of sharing the wonders of life through studies in Biology with your child. I am very excited about this opportunity to help them to discover the fascinating keys to how living things work.
My philosophy is that all children can and will learn when given interesting and stimulating activities using various and multiple means of instruction. I feel as their teacher, I am the facilitator of their learning. I have many interesting and fun activities and investigations planned for this term, which will be aimed at capturing their attention, peaking their curiosity, and stimulating their thought processes. I hope through these activities they will feel challenged and inspired to find out more about science and the world around them.
While one of the primary goals of the course is to help them learn scientific principles and concepts, my ultimate goal is to help them become critical thinkers and problem-solvers. My personal mission is to help them develop the thinking processes they will need and use in their everyday life long after they have left this course and high school.
Please know that your child and their education is important to me as I know it is to you. Because your child is important, I feel parental involvement and awareness is vital. In order to keep you informed of your child's progress I will use various means of communication with you. From time to time, I will be sending home progress reports, special notices of success, and when necessary reports regarding missing assignments or behavior problems. You may also receive an occasional phone call when circumstances dictate.
The class website http://www.geocities.com/mrsrosasbiologytalk/ will allow you to review the class schedule, classroom procedures and rules, plus helpful website links. Let me encourage you to call, e-mail, or visit me concerning questions or problems that you feel your child may be having. I am here to facilitate their educational success and learning.
Sincerely,
Glenda Rosa
